This is a pretty amazing process. I’m even more impressed by this book now. If anyone wants to buy me the $4,600 version shown in the video, don’t. I’d drop chocolate all over it.

It also reminded me that I keep forgetting to link to perdy, another place that I’ve been posting to. It’s mostly pictures of nice things that I like to look at and don’t want clogging up this space.

It’s been awhile since these were finished. I used a lot of things I’ve had my eye on for these two, like Kevin Cornell’s Phaeton font. You can see it on the cover of the CD as well as in the banner. I also used a few of his figures from the font on the inside.

Most of the other things I’ve been looking forward to trying are under the hood of the website. I think the best way to keep a site up to date is to aggregate the information you are already inputting on other sites.

Ianfitzgerald.com pulls from tumblr, last.fm, and flickr. I don’t like when sites are a mess of branded social networking widgets, but it’s great to take advantage of the work put into keeping those sites up to date.

I wasn’t going to do this, but these are haunting me now. I first saw the poster on Apartment Therapy and, as you can see from their search results, it has exploded. Kseniya Simonova (ксения симонова) is a 24-year-old sand animator from the Ukrainian city Yevpatoria, and winner of the Ukraine’s Got Talent 2009 season. It is an understatement to say that Simonova’s visual narratives of her homeland during World War II are wonderfully and hauntingly moving.

TeeFury had an open call for interpretations of their mascots to be used on a collaboration t-shirt as they have done in the past. They had so many submissions that they will be printing several shirts. You can see the first one here. You never know when they are going to pop up for sale, but I read a rumor the next one will be up on Sunday.

I have no idea if my submission will be used, but here it is. I pulled it together last minute by altering a bird I’m using in the prints that I’m working on. I had trouble deciding whether or not to mess with my original drawing when I still haven’t finished the prints. I think it worked well and I still have the same plans for the original.
